Traditionally, tabor pipes are played one handed - usually left- whilst simultaneously playing a drum or tabor suspended from the wrist with the other. Said to be medieval French in origin, particularly Provencal, the pipe and Tabor combination has survived into the revival of English Morris Dance in the early 20th century
